Definition for : CO2 fertilisation
The enhancement of the growth of plants as a result of increased atmospheric CO2 concentration. Depending on their mechanism of photosynthesis, certain types of plants are more sensitive to changes in atmospheric CO2 concentratioin. In particular, C3 plants generally show a larger response to CO2 than C4 plants.
